Eligibility
Candidates are accepted into our
orientation program after successfully completing the
written application process and psychological evaluation.
We
typically receive Preliminary Forms in the Fall of each
year, and the candidate goes through the application
process in the Spring. This allows for plenty of time for personal
discernment, completing all components of the application
process, and finalizing other personal logistics, such as
selling a car or house before Orientation.
Requirements for Admission:

Practicing
Catholics (in good standing with the church) who express their faith in service to the poor.

A U.S. or Canadian citizen.

Single
or married, maximum 2 dependents.

Between the ages of
24 and 54.
-
Personal maturity, adaptability, good physical and psychological health.

College degree or needed skill, and a minimum of one year's work experience.

Commitment to live and work with the poor of different religions, traditions, and cultures.

Commitment to learn a foreign
language and immerse oneself in the local culture.

Commitment
to live a very simple
lifestyle, and forego many of the luxuries and
comforts of North America.

Willingness
to build community with other lay missionaries and work with the local church and other Comboni Missionaries.

Willingness to make a 3-year commitment overseas.

includes the personal interviews by program staff)

a Call to Mission Weekend (which includes the
psychological interview and tests)
